The insulators are manufactured using high strength material and subjected to strict process and dimensional controls. They are designed to provide a rigid support accounting for the bending and torsion loads. They meet various essential mechanical and electrical properties to meet the loads arising out of short circuit, seismic, wind, ice and any other dynamic loads. Thus, they protect the internal components from being exposed to the vagaries of the weather.

Lightning Arrester is also known as Surge Arrester and is a device used on electrical power systems to protect the insulation of transformer and conductors of the system from the damaging effects of lightning. It has a high-voltage terminal and a ground terminal. When a lightning surge travels along the power line to the arrester, the current from the surge is diverted through the arrester, into the earth.

A corona ring is a toroid of conductive material, which is attached to a terminal or other irregular hardware piece of high voltage equipment. The role of corona ring is to distribute the electric field gradient and lower it's maximum values below the corona threshold preventing corona discharge. They are used on very high voltage power transmission insulators and switchgear.
